Did you know that at least 500,000 Canadians are affected by hidden mobility disabilities (HMD)?

HMD means a person can walk independently, but for no more than a short distance, and they can stand unsupported, but only for a brief time. Despite the number of Canadians affected by HMD, this area of disability is often overlooked.

Please join us on Thursday April 21 at 2PM ET as Dr. Dorothy Riddle, founder of the Hidden Mobility Disabilities Alliance (HMDA), discusses the Hidden Mobility Disability project.

This Connection event will cover the following:

  • What is HMD?
  • Who is affected by HMD?
  • How are they affected?
  • What can we do to be more aware of HMD?
  • How do we ensure our spaces are accessible for people living with HMD?

This project, sponsored by the HMDA and funded by Accessibility Standards Canada, will explore physical access requirements of people who have HMD, how attitudinal barriers can be addressed, and most importantly, to help inform federal accessibility standards in the future.

We invite you to learn more about the Hidden Mobility Disability Project.

ODEN is proud to be the primary project partner in collaboration with the HMDA.
