Led by an ODEN Disability Employment Inclusion Specialist, this interactive training will equip you with effective strategies to support job seekers who have a disability and boost your confidence in engaging with businesses.

Overview

ODEN’s Disability Awareness & Confidence Training is tailored for Employment Service Professionals who are seeking to enhance their understanding and responsiveness to the diverse abilities, competencies, and needs of Ontario’s job seekers with disabilities. The learning objectives are outlined. 

This comprehensive training equips job developers and employment consultants with strategies to effectively support Ontario's “Stream C” job seekers with disabilities and will help to build the confidence needed to assist business with their inclusive hiring practices.  More details below.

Learning Objectives:

  • Disability Employment Facts: Learn key facts and statistics about disability employment in Ontario. The importance of Language: Discover improved 
  • Importance of Language: Communication strategies regarding disabilities and an understanding of how misconceptions can create barriers to inclusion.  
  • Inclusion Barriers: Discuss common barriers to inclusion in the workplace, including employer myths and misconceptions about hiring individuals with disabilities, and ways to help businesses overcome them. 
  • Disability Awareness: Gain a general understanding of various disabilities, their impacts, and effective support strategies in the workplace.
  • Creating Inclusive Workplaces: Learn what businesses need to create and maintain inclusive workplaces.
  • Tools and Resources: Learn about useful tools and resources that can help you in your work.
  • Activities, discussions and an opportunity to ask questions.


The two half-day webinar training is limited to ten (10) participants and is facilitated by a Disability Employment Inclusion Specialist from ODEN. Participants who self-register, will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Digital Reference Handout.
