Applying Research to Life: a Research Symposium for Patients and Families interested in childhood disability research.

For students who have a developmental disability, early perceptions of “unemployability” continue to foster lower expectations from families and educators, creating barriers to access critical supports needed to prepare them for a future that includes work.

Join Jennifer Crowson, Diversity & Inclusion Specialist and Ingrid Muschta, Director Special Projects & Innovation from the Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN) as they share findings of their research for the Youth Success Strategy and where they will discuss how to create an environment where competitive employment is seen a viable possibility and the natural progression for students who have a developmental disability once they leave the school system, similar to their peers without a disability.

This session is for anyone who involved in the life a child from birth to adulthood who has a developmental disability, including parents and family members; educators (e.g., teachers, educational assistants, service providers); health care providers (e.g., physicians, nurses, allied health care professionals) and academic researchers.
