Left Turn Right Turn

Left Turn Right Turn Accessibility has spent the last 18 months consulting people with disabilities to gather feedback about barriers to employment, and solutions to removing those barriers. People with disabilities are the experts on their own lives and needs. Their perspectives must be the cornerstone of all work on accessibility.

LTRT has consulted employees and jobseekers with disabilities from 35+ organizations, including public and private entities, federal and provincial advocacy groups, and independent advisory groups. What we heard and learned from these conversations is the basis for this panel. Key themes and learnings from these discussions will be shared, including: What are the most common and impactful barriers to employment people with disabilities face? What are their experiences in the world of work? What are their needs and priorities when it comes to employment? What would they like employers to know about working with employees with disabilities? What are their recommendations for a more accessible and inclusive workforce?

In addition to the learnings gleaned from our work over the past 18 months, LTRT will also reflect on how we have incorporated these learnings into our own practices as an organization whose staff are majority people with disabilities. Thus, moving the conversation from one of consultation to business practice.
